For two days running at the weekend?  How odd.

Yesterday was a good day; I had a Pilates studio class in the morning (I hurt now) and a Feldenkrais workshop in the afternoon, which was most interesting.  Then I walked home (about five miles) which wasn’t the brightest thing to do after ninety minutes of Pilates.  I was in bed by ten and slept for more than twelve hours!

I had my favourite swirly black dancer’s dress on, but forgot to photograph it due to knackeredness.  This was my outfit today:

Really hard to photograph, that dress, the colours get washed out very easily.  That was the best I could do by myself…  And my arms are not really that podgy.  Honest…..

This is a close up of the print

Not much else to report, other than sore abs and shoulders.  Had a nice afternoon running about the local vintage shops with me ma, managed to make her buy a skirt while buying nothing myself *polishes halo*.

I had Guinness with lunch (for medicinal purposes), much to the surprise of the waitress who proferred the opinion that I looked much too feminine and ladylike to drink it.  I informed her that my appearance was terribly misleading.

Ten hours hacking away grimly at the actuarial coal face of doom today.  Lovely.  Just what you need on a sunny Friday.  I would like to thank Metallica for writing angry songs because I needed something to induce an appropriate level of focussed rage to get through it all.  It’s not done yet by any stretch of the imagination, but I have our valuation engine wriggling and squealing for mercy under my boots, which is always progress.

I was too hot, but I do love this little dress.

Or Peripheral Heart Action to give it its full name.  This is essentially a method of exercising which works upper and lower body hard in turn, with minimal pauses between sets.  It was developed by one Dr Arthur Steinhaus and is designed to keep blood pumping throughout your entire body during a workout, by switching from upper to lower body in quick succession.

There are many different ways to do it, of course.  At present I like doing three sets of two opposing pairs – say squats followed by overhead presses.  It very much comes into my currently favoured category of training, which, for want of a more exact term, I have unimaginatively christened resistance cardio!

I liked the routine I did tonight, and will forget it if I don’t write it down, so ….

Pair one
10 jumping lunges
10 t-bar pushups

Pair two
10 basketball side lunges with dips and raise
10 split overhead presses (6kg per arm)

Pair three
20 squats with lateral raises
20 single-leg bentover rows (12kg)

Repeated each pair three times, then (after brief pause for gasping and water)…

20 mountain climbers
20 situps
20 mountain climbers
10 pulsed scissors
20 mountain climbers
10 teasers (at which point the ol’ bod did just not want to know)
10 knee pulls front and back

Stretch off (and man, the splits hurt tonight).

And then a large plate of sweet potatoes, hummus, tuna and veggies.

Little brown dress, that is.  I’ve worn a lot of brown this week, because I want to carry Flossie, my new brown bag.

Neither of us are quite as bulgy as we appear in that crap photo! The quality will improve once the Boy’s back and I’m not reliant on propping the camera on bits of furniture and hoping for the best.

Since Boots are now kind enough to have a Models Own stand, I went along to investigate, because it would have been rude not to.  I wasn’t terribly impressed with the lip products (smelt sickly sweet) but I’m quite taken with the nail varnishes.  I may have bought three (it was buy two get one three so once more, rude not to….).

Nude Beige, Top Turquoise and (my favourite) Red n Black, which is a great, well, reddish black colour IRL.  I quite like Nude Beige too, although it verges on being too cold for my skintone.

I was only shopping at lunch time because half my lunch hour went on soothing a terrified actuary (I wanted to go to the gym but ran out of time).  Actuaries are there, despite what they might (and generally do) think, to provide leadership and direction (and exude calm confidence in the face of overwhelming crisis), so it is never a good sign when a humble minion student finds herself having to give her actuary leadership and direction and generally exude calm confidence in the face of the terrifying monster of S143 DOOM.

I shall do some PHA stuff later for exercise.  I hope it’ll annoy my neighbours because last night one of them started playing the guitar (excreably) at HALF PAST ONE…

Not sleeping properly.  Not entirely sure why but my neighbour up the stairs doing the tango in her stilettoes on her laminate floor at five in the morning is not helping.  Normally when my neighbours annoy me I retaliate in a childish manner by playing Mass Effect or Call of Duty REALLY LOUDLY or enlisting my friends Lars (Ulrich) or Bruce (Dickinson), but that would require me to get out of bed and/or have some hand-eye coordination which is impossible at that hour, so I do nothing.

Anyway.  Spent the day staring wide-eyed at CT6 notes, whimpering in fear, and staring out of the window blankly whenever it all got too much (which was often).  I have made tomorrow’s lunch and tidied.  I have resisted buying clothes, shoes or makeup.  Woooo.

But I have bought beads with which to make things to adorn the Boy. He’s been wearing surfer beads and whatnot since long before it was fashionable and upon finding out that I used to make jewellery asked hopefully if I could make him some.  I am really quite unreasonably pleased by this.  It’s nice to have a reason to make things and maybe it’ll get me back into making more clothes and jewellery for myself again too.
